Pause and resume all monitoring

Use the tray to pause or resume the complete local portfolio.

Use the TechDash tray menu to pause every stored website at once. This is useful before travel, intensive local work, a network change, or a maintenance period affecting the whole portfolio. The app remains available for reviewing existing information.

Pause all websites

  1. Select the TechDash icon in the macOS menu bar or Windows system tray.
  2. Select Pause all monitoring.

TechDash marks each website as paused and rebuilds the tray menu. Website cards show Paused, and the tray action changes to Resume all monitoring.

Scheduled page checks, site-resource work, SSL, domain, DNS, Search Console, and weekly icon and screenshot refreshes do not start for paused websites. Work already running at the moment you pause can finish before workers observe the new state.

This is different from Quit:

  • Pause all monitoring leaves TechDash running and lets you open its interface.
  • Quit closes the app. No local monitoring runs until TechDash starts again.
  • Closing the main window can leave TechDash monitoring in the tray; it is not the same as either Pause or Quit.

Resume all websites

  1. Open the TechDash tray menu.
  2. Select Resume all monitoring.

TechDash unpauses every stored website. For each website, it asks the page, lookup, site-resource, and brand schedulers to consider due work. The Paused badges disappear.

Due work joins its normal queue. Resuming does not mean every website is checked immediately, and it does not override page-level disabled states.

Important effect on individual pauses

The portfolio action updates every website's pause state. It does not remember which sites were already paused individually.

For example, if Site A was paused before you selected Pause all monitoring, selecting Resume all monitoring later also unpauses Site A. After resuming the portfolio, use the card's Pause Monitoring action again for any website that should remain stopped.

Understand the tray status

The tray tooltip and status line report network readiness:

  • Monitoring in the background when connectivity is online.
  • Waiting for internet when offline.
  • Wi-Fi sign-in required when a captive connection is detected.

These messages describe connectivity, not whether every website is unpaused. Monitoring in the background can therefore appear while some websites are individually paused.

Resuming does not bypass:

  • An offline or captive connection.
  • A locked or unusable license.
  • Page schedules and page-level disabled states.
  • Queue backlogs or concurrent crawl limits.
  • Search Console quotas.

Work starts as it becomes due and capacity is available.

Confirm monitoring resumed

Open Websites and check that the expected cards no longer show Paused. Then open Queue Status to see waiting and active work. A quiet queue can be normal if nothing is due.

If checks do not resume:

  1. Confirm the tray action now reads Pause all monitoring. That means at least one website is unpaused.
  2. Check the connectivity status in the tray.
  3. Confirm the license is usable.
  4. Open the website and verify that the relevant page is enabled.
  5. Use Run now for one page to request a specific page check.

If website badges and the tray action show monitoring resumed but an enabled page remains stale after a successful manual request and no backlog is present, open Help & Support. Include the TechDash version, operating system, hostname and page path, tray action and connectivity text, page Enabled state, last-check text, request time with time zone, and a screenshot of Queue Status.
