Ignore a check for a URL, website, or all websites

Suppress a built-in finding at the narrowest appropriate scope.

Use Ignore This when a check is intentionally irrelevant at a defined scope. An ignore rule keeps matching findings off Incidents and prevents matching notifications until you remove the rule.

Ignoring does not change the live website and does not disable unrelated checks.

Choose an available scope

Open the incident and select Ignore This. The menu uses these exact labels:

  • Ignore check for this URL suppresses this check for the incident's monitored path on the current website.
  • Ignore check for this website suppresses this check for all paths and site-level results on the current website.
  • Ignore check on all websites suppresses this check throughout this TechDash installation.

The URL option appears only when the incident has a page path. Site-level incidents, such as certificate, domain, DNS, and many site-resource findings, offer only website and all-websites scopes.

Choose the narrowest scope that expresses the exception. If one page intentionally has no H1, ignore that check for the URL rather than the whole website. Use a website rule when the check is not relevant anywhere on that property. Use all websites only for an installation-wide policy.

What happens when you ignore

After you choose a scope, TechDash stores the rule locally, closes the dialog, and shows This check will be ignored.

The rule matches the check identifier plus its scope:

  • A URL rule matches the website and path.
  • A website rule matches every path and site-level result for that website.
  • A global rule matches that check on every website.

Matching open incidents disappear from Incidents, stop contributing to Health Score, and no longer produce matching failure or recovery notifications. TechDash can still run the check, and Latest results can still show its stored failure. Ignoring changes what TechDash presents and alerts you about. It does not make the check pass, give it a Good status, or change the live website.

Review and remove rules

Go to Notifications > Ignored Checks to manage saved rules. TechDash groups global rules under All websites and website or URL rules under the website name. Each entry shows the check name and one of:

  • All websites
  • This website
  • The monitored path, such as /products/

Select Remove rule to watch that check at the scope again. If the current latest result still fails, its incident can reappear immediately because removing the rule changes the open-incident filter. A new crawl is not required for already stored failing evidence to become visible.

Deleting a website also removes its URL and website ignore rules. Global rules remain because they are not owned by one website.

Ignore compared with other controls

Use Mark Resolved when you accept the exact current observed value but want a different future failing value to be reviewed. Use Ignore This when the check itself is not useful for the chosen scope.

For an optional check that should not run at all on one monitored page, use that page's Optional checks controls instead. Turning an optional check Off prevents TechDash from running it on that page. An ignore rule allows the check to run but suppresses its matching incident and alert behavior.

Custom Checks have an additional Notify control. Turning Notify Off stops notification eligibility but does not hide a failing Custom Check from Incidents or remove its Health Score effect. Use an ignore rule if you also need the incident suppressed.

Use ignores carefully

Before ignoring, confirm the URL and scope in the incident. A website or global rule can hide future changes that would otherwise warn you about lost search visibility, broken customer journeys, or site availability. Record the business reason outside TechDash if your team needs an audit trail, because the rule stores scope and creation time but the UI does not ask for a note.
