Enable or disable page monitoring

Pause normal scheduling for one URL without removing its record or settings.

Set a page to Enabled: Off when you want to stop its normal scheduled checks temporarily but keep the URL and its settings in TechDash.

Turn scheduled monitoring off

  1. Open Websites and select the website.
  2. In Monitored Pages, find the URL. Use Filter pages if needed.
  3. Select the page path to expand its controls.
  4. Under Enabled, select the toggle so it shows Off.

The change saves immediately. The page stays in the table with its interval, per-page notification toggles, disabled built-in check list, latest results, and stored state. Normal scheduler sweeps consider enabled URLs only.

Turning a page off does not cancel a check that is already active, so that crawl may finish. Work already waiting in the queue remains queued, but the worker checks the current setting and skips it while the page is Off. Later due-check sweeps do not admit new work for the page.

Turn scheduled monitoring back on

  1. Expand the page again.
  2. Under Enabled, select the toggle so it shows On.

The page returns to the scheduler's enabled set. If it has never been checked, or enough time has passed since its last check, it is due immediately. TechDash normally reviews due pages once a minute and admits work when worker capacity is available.

Re-enabling does not automatically place the page at the front of the queue. Select Run now if you need an immediate manual request.

What Off does and does not do

Enabled: Off does:

  • Exclude the URL from normal page due-check scheduling
  • Keep the monitored page record available for later use
  • Preserve its saved interval and page-level controls
  • Leave the page visible in Monitored Pages and its filters

Enabled: Off does not:

  • Remove the URL from Monitored Pages
  • Delete previous checks, current state, or incidents
  • Change notification settings or resolve an incident
  • Disable other pages on the website
  • Pause site resources, lookups, Search Console work, or brand assets

The Run now button remains available while the page is Off, and the request can show Check queued. However, the page-check worker skips disabled pages. Turn the page On before using Run now if you expect a fresh result.

Compare the available pause controls

Use Enabled: Off for one page.

Use Optional checks when the page should keep running but one or more built-in evaluators are irrelevant. HTTP error and redirect availability gates still run.

Use Pause Monitoring from the website card's context menu when all page and website-level scheduled work for one website should stop. Unpausing the website prompts due schedulers to reconsider its work.

Use Pause all monitoring from the tray menu when scheduled monitoring across the portfolio should stop.

Use Remove only when the page should no longer be part of the monitored set. Removal also deletes page-specific current state and custom checks, so Off is the safer choice for a temporary pause.

Scheduling behavior after resuming

The due calculation still uses the saved Last check time. Time spent disabled does not reset it. A page disabled for longer than its interval will normally be due when enabled again.

On battery power or while the screen is locked, due timing is stretched to twice the configured interval. Offline or captive Wi-Fi prevents due work from being admitted. Queue backlog and worker capacity can delay a due page further.

Troubleshooting

The page still checked after being turned off: It may already have been active when you changed the toggle. Off does not cancel a crawl that is already executing. A job that was only queued remains in the queue but is skipped when its worker starts.

The page does not run immediately after being turned on: Wait for the next scheduler sweep, use Run now, and check Queue Status. Confirm the website and portfolio are not paused, the computer is online, and the license is usable.

Only one check should stop: Keep the page On and clear that check under Optional checks.

The URL should disappear permanently: Use Remove and confirm the exact absolute URL.

If the Enabled state does not persist after a full restart, or a page repeatedly runs after it was Off before the job entered the queue, open Help & Support. Include the TechDash version, operating system, hostname and path, Enabled state before and after restart, last-check text, change time with time zone, and screenshots of the row and Queue Status.
