Understand accepted, rejected, and pending bulk URLs
Interpret bulk-add progress, rejection reasons, and partial results.
Last checked 21 August 2026
Bulk Add validates and creates each non-blank line separately. One rejected line does not roll back accepted pages or stop later lines from being attempted.
Result meanings
- Accepted: TechDash successfully created a monitored page for that line.
- Rejected: URL validation or page creation failed. The rejection table shows the original line and a reason.
- Pending: TechDash has not attempted that line yet.
The total includes non-blank lines only. The percentage is calculated from accepted plus rejected lines divided by the total. A finished run has no pending lines, even when some lines were rejected.
Accepted pages are saved immediately. They remain in Monitored Pages if other lines fail or if you close the dialog later.
Common rejection messages
Enter a valid absolute URL
The line must begin with http:// or https://. A bare hostname, relative path, heading, or comment is rejected. Change /about to a complete URL such as https://example.com/about.
URL is for a different website
The URL's hostname does not exactly match the hostname stored for the selected website. These are different for validation purposes:
example.comandwww.example.comshop.example.comandexample.com- Different international or regional hostnames
Open the correct website in TechDash before retrying, or add the other hostname as its own website.
Path must be 2,048 characters or fewer
TechDash stores the path and query string for a monitored URL. Remove unnecessary tracking parameters or shorten the query. The scheme and hostname are not part of this limit.
Already monitored or creation failed
The same path and query may already exist for the website, including an earlier occurrence in the current list. Search Monitored Pages using the full URL or path before retrying.
A creation request can also fail if the website or URL record changes while the bulk operation is running. Reopen the website and try the affected line again.
Correct and retry rejected lines
- Wait until Pending reaches zero.
- Read the Reason beside each rejected URL.
- Copy only the rejected lines into a text editor.
- Correct the scheme, hostname, path length, or duplicate.
- Select Done.
- Open Bulk Add again and paste only the corrected lines.
Do not paste the entire original list unless duplicate rejections are acceptable. Accepted URLs are already stored.
What happens after acceptance
Each accepted page is enabled with the website's saved Check frequency, all optional checks enabled, and all per-page notification channel toggles on.
TechDash requests an immediate first check for every accepted page. The request still needs a usable license and connectivity, and it waits for available page-check workers. A large accepted list may therefore remain in the page-check queue for a while. Accepted confirms that the page record was created, not that its first crawl was admitted or finished. A page with no completed check remains due for later scheduler sweeps.
Closing early and partial results
Closing the dialog during processing requests cancellation and clears the results shown in that dialog. Pages already accepted remain added. Lines still pending are not submitted. A request already underway may complete before cancellation is observed.
To establish the final state:
- Return to Monitored Pages.
- Use Filter pages to search for URLs from the list.
- Run another bulk add with only URLs that are still missing.
If accepted pages are not checking
Check Queue Status for waiting page work. Confirm that each page is Enabled, the website is not paused, portfolio-wide monitoring is not paused from the tray, the computer has a usable internet connection, and the license is active. On battery power or with a locked screen, due intervals are stretched; queued work still waits for a worker.
If a corrected same-host URL is repeatedly rejected with an unexplained reason, or Pending stops changing while the dialog remains open, open Help & Support. Include the TechDash version, operating system, hostname, exact rejected URL or a redacted equivalent with the same structure, complete reason, accepted/rejected/pending totals, and attempt time with time zone.
