Fix license activation errors
Match a TechDash activation message to the correct license, device, or connection fix.
Last checked 20 August 2026
Use the message on the activation screen to identify whether the problem is input format, device binding, license status, or connectivity.
Activation is an explicit binding request. TechDash does not automatically move a license from another computer, and temporary connection failures are not treated as proof that a license is invalid.
Check the email and key
TechDash validates the fields before contacting the license service:
- Enter a valid email address. Enter the address associated with the license.
- Enter a license key like XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. Enter 20 letters or numbers in four groups of five.
- Enter a valid email address and license key. Correct both fields.
TechDash removes surrounding spaces, lowercases the email, uppercases the key, and inserts key hyphens as you type. Both values are required.
If you see That email and license key were not accepted, the service did not recognize the pair. Compare both fields with the original purchase or license email. A valid-looking key paired with a different email is not accepted.
License already in use
This license is already in use on another computer. Unlink it there, or revoke it at techdash.com/account, then activate it here. means a different device identifier is bound.
Choose one release method:
- On the bound computer, open Settings, find License, select Unlink license from this device, then confirm Unlink license.
- If that computer is unavailable, open
https://techdash.com/accountand use Revoke this device for the license. - Return to Activate TechDash on the intended computer and select Activate license again.
Do not use Replace license on the old computer to release this key. Replacement overwrites the local record but does not unbind the old key on the server.
License was revoked
This license was revoked. Activate it again from techdash.com if you still have access. means this installation no longer has an active binding. This commonly appears on an old local copy after the device was released remotely.
Use the account associated with the license to confirm it is available, then activate the email and key on the computer you intend to use. If the account does not permit activation, contact support through the account site.
Offline or Wi-Fi sign-in required
- This computer is offline. Connect to the internet to activate a license. Restore connectivity and confirm ordinary HTTPS websites load.
- Wi-Fi sign-in is required before TechDash can check this license. Open a browser, complete the network's sign-in page, then retry.
Could not reach the license server
Could not reach the license server. Try again when the connection is stable. is not an authoritative invalid-license result. It can represent a timeout, DNS or TLS problem, temporary server failure, malformed response, or rate limit.
- Confirm that ordinary HTTPS pages load.
- Avoid rapid retries.
- Wait for any temporary server retry period to end.
- Try again on a stable connection.
An existing successfully validated installation remains unlocked through this kind of temporary failure. A first-time activation cannot complete until the service returns a successful binding result.
Activation succeeds but no old data appears
This is not a license error. Activation unlocks the local installation but does not import websites, incidents, settings, HTML files, screenshots, or Search Console details from another computer. TechDash keeps those items locally. Configure the new installation as needed.
Information to collect for support
If the same error remains after the matching steps, record:
- the exact message;
- whether this is the original or a replacement computer;
- operating system and TechDash version;
- whether the account shows a bound device;
- when activation was last attempted.
Include the licensed email when contacting support. Do not publish the full license key or a short-lived installer URL.
