Renew software updates and support

Extend the TechDash period that includes newly published releases and support.

Renewal extends access to newly published TechDash releases and support. It is not required to keep an already licensed version running. The license itself does not expire, monitoring continues after the updates term, and installers for releases already owned remain available.

Open renewal

Use one of these verified routes:

  • Open techdash.com/renew directly.
  • In Settings, find the License card and select Move or renew this license on techdash.com. This opens techdash.com/account.
  • In Settings, find Check for Updates and select Renew licensed updates when that action is shown.

The renewal and account pages are maintained separately from the desktop repository. Follow the current website prompts to identify the intended license, review the renewal terms, and complete the renewal. This guide does not assume navigation labels or payment steps that cannot be verified from the app.

Use the account and licensed email associated with the TechDash key you want to extend. Before paying, confirm that the website shows the intended license and renewal period.

What renewal changes

Renewal extends updates and support by 12 months:

  • If you renew before the current period ends, the additional 12 months begins after the existing end date.
  • If you renew after the period has ended, the new 12 months begins when the renewal succeeds.

Renewal does not replace the license key. It also does not move the license to another computer, transfer local data, or reactivate a revoked installation.

When the renewal button appears

An ended updates period does not always make Renew licensed updates appear. TechDash shows that action when a newer published release is outside the license's current updates period.

You can still use techdash.com/renew before that action appears. For example, you may want to extend an active period before it ends.

Refresh TechDash after renewal

  1. Return to TechDash.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Find Check for Updates.
  4. Select Check for updates.
  5. Review Latest published, Newest installer you own if shown, and the available update action.

The expected result is that a successful update check reflects the extended date and can offer a newly owned release for this computer. A packaged macOS or Windows app may begin downloading an eligible in-app update. Download installer opens the matching browser installer when one is available. Linux uses Download installer for a .deb or .rpm package.

The License updates badge can remain Not included until TechDash next validates the license, even when the update result already shows the renewed date or a newly available installer. License validation normally occurs about once every 24 hours while the computer is online.

Do not use that badge alone to decide whether the renewal succeeded. Check the date, Newest installer you own, and the available action as well.

If the date does not update

First confirm that the completed renewal belongs to the same licensed email and key used by this TechDash installation. Then:

  1. Confirm that normal HTTPS websites load and complete any public Wi-Fi sign-in.
  2. Select Check for updates again.
  3. Review the account at techdash.com/account and confirm the renewal affected the intended license.
  4. Allow until the next license validation for License updates to change to Included.
  5. Quit and reopen TechDash, then check again.

If the website shows the expected renewal but TechDash still does not reflect it after a successful connection and the next validation, open Help & Support. Use the support options available there and include the licensed email, TechDash version, operating system, renewal time, and what Check for Updates shows. Do not send the full license key or a short-lived installer URL in an unsecured message.

If a release is still unavailable

Renewal does not guarantee that every platform file is immediately available. TechDash can offer an update only when:

  • the release was published within the renewed period;
  • it is newer than Current version;
  • an installer exists for this operating system and processor architecture;
  • on Linux, the matching .deb or .rpm package exists.

TechDash does not offer a downgrade. A license can own a release without showing an installation action on a computer that already has the same or a newer version.
