Install TechDash on macOS

Install the packaged TechDash app from its macOS DMG.

Last checked 24 August 2026

TechDash is distributed for macOS as a DMG. Download it through the official TechDash website, account, or in-app update flow. Copy TechDash to Applications, then activate it with the email address and key issued for your purchase. Page checks use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on this Mac, then Chromium in the usual locations. See System requirements and supported platforms if Settings asks for a Chromium path.

If you are offered architecture-specific downloads, choose Apple silicon or arm64 for a Mac with an Apple chip. Choose Intel or x64 for an Intel Mac. You can find Chip or Processor under Apple menu > About This Mac. Official TechDash DMGs are signed with Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Do not open an installer from an unknown source.

Install the app

  1. Download the TechDash DMG offered for your Mac.
  2. In Finder, open Downloads, then double-click the DMG.
  3. In the installer window, drag TechDash to Applications.
  4. Wait for the copy to finish.
  5. Eject the TechDash installer volume in Finder.
  6. Open Applications, then double-click TechDash.

Open the copy in Applications, not the app on the mounted installer volume. TechDash allows one running copy. If it is already active in the macOS menu bar, opening it again brings the existing window forward.

Activate TechDash

On a new installation, the first window is Activate TechDash:

  1. Enter the value in Email using the address to which the license was issued.
  2. Enter License key in the XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX format.
  3. Select Activate license.

If your license email contains a TechDash activation link, select it on this Mac. Your browser or macOS may ask whether to open TechDash. The link can fill Email and License key for you. Review both values, then select Activate license. Activation requires an internet connection.

After installation

After successful activation, the activation screen closes and the main app becomes available. TechDash starts its local monitoring services and manages its local data folder automatically.

Desktop notifications are On by default. If macOS asks whether TechDash can send notifications, allow them if you want Warning and Critical banners. You can later open Notifications, find Desktop notifications, and select Send test.

Closing the TechDash window leaves it running in the menu bar, so scheduled monitoring can continue. Select the tray icon to reopen the window. To stop TechDash completely, open the tray menu and choose Quit TechDash.

If macOS shows a security warning

Do not bypass a warning for an installer you did not expect. Delete the file and download TechDash again through the official TechDash website, account, or update flow.

If macOS still blocks that official download:

  1. Copy the exact warning or take a screenshot without showing your license key.
  2. Open Apple menu > About This Mac and note the macOS version and Chip or Processor.
  3. Note the TechDash DMG filename.
  4. Open Help & Support and send those details.

Security controls can differ between personal and organisation-managed Macs. If the message says a policy or administrator blocked the app, contact your organisation's administrator as well. Do not change security settings based on instructions from an untrusted download page.

If no window appears

  • Look for the TechDash icon in the macOS menu bar. A login launch can intentionally start it in the background.
  • Select the tray icon, then choose Open TechDash.
  • Open TechDash from Applications again. The single-instance behavior should show the running window.
  • If no tray icon appears, quit any unresponsive TechDash process using normal macOS controls, then reopen the copy in Applications.
  • If Activate TechDash appears but the license is rejected, do not reinstall. Check the email and key or follow the activation troubleshooting article.

The expected result is either Activate TechDash on a new installation or the last main app area used by an already activated installation.

If neither the window nor the menu-bar icon appears after reopening TechDash, open Help & Support. Include the macOS version, Mac architecture, TechDash filename, and any warning or crash message.
